Digital Word Work: Suffixes Part 2- ly, ful, less, & ness

Provide your students with meaningful practice with adding examples of suffixes to base words. This Google Slides activity focuses specifically on the suffixes with -ly, -ful, -ness, and -less. Within these word work activities there are 8 different suffixes examples that challenge students to work with base words and suffixes in a variety of applications including each suffix meaning. These 8 digital word work activities repeat in 3 different rounds.

 

The 8 activities include:

✨Definition of suffixes

✨Word sorts based on the suffixes -ly, -ful, -less, & -ness

✨Creating new words by adding a suffix to a base word

✨Multiple Choice Test prep questions

✨Adding suffixes with -ly, -ful, -less, & -ness to a base word when given a picture

✨Identifying examples of suffixes in a given word

✨Complete a table matching base words, suffixes, and the newly created word

✨Decodable stories using circles and lines identifying words with suffixes.

 

This can be assigned through google classroom. Students can complete 1 round of 8 activities on 3 different days in a week, or complete all 3 rounds at once, giving you the flexibility to differentiate and use as needed.

This product will open as a PDF where you will see detailed instructions and access to a copy of the digital link that you will use to access the slides. A copy of the slides will appear in your Google Drive when you click ‘make a copy.’ From there, the resource can be shared in your google classroom with your students.
